Abstract

The general methodology of science takes into account unsaid (enthymematic) premises and assumpxions. In a given scientific publication, only the premises or only the assumpxions, or both, may be enthymematic. In certain instances, the underlying cause may be attributed to editorial constraints. In publications based on the methodology of complementary research (in the proposed author's approach), the basic expectation is to formulate precise premises and assumpxions.

The aim of this paper is to explain why this expectation is important.

Two innovative reviews of scientific publications are recommended: an innovative review of residuals and an innovative review of omitted implications. The innovation is primarily the indication of potential sources of inspiration for new scientific discoveries. The innovative review of residuals is a tool for determining whether the content of uncited publications within the explored phenomenon contains valuable knowledge that has not been used so far. The review of omitted implications is clearly focused on secondary analysis of the discussion of results (observational data) of phenomena isolated from material, social or other reality, despite their connections with phenomena of key importance for the functioning of the whole (obviously, this whole requires a precise definition in each case). Complementary medicine (although it is not a separate science) provides many ‘examples of the whole’ associated with health from the micro to the macro scale (public health).
